Quito is located in an altitude of 2.850 meters. The highest mountains in Ecuador are more than 6.000 meters high. Your body must get used to the altitude slowly and you should give him the time!

Travel insurance is not obligatory, but is definitely highly recommended. Travel insurance should protect you against any unforeseen events, sickness or extreme family events.
Will we have to exchange any money before we travel to Ecuador?
In 2000, Ecuador adopted the US dollar as its official currency. Just make sure you bring cash bills in good condition with you. Bring small denominations bills: 1, 5, 10 or 20. Big bills nominations may be harder to be accepted: 50, 100.
How long is the flight from Ecuador to the Galapagos?
Flights to the Galapagos leave from Quito and Guayaquil. It takes about half an hour to get from Quito to Guayaquil and roughly one and a half hours from Guayaquil to the islands.
What form of payment do you accept?
We can accept payments by Paypal, Visa / Master Card, and Bank Transfer. To hold your reservation, we need a deposit of 50% of the total price.
Are there any immunizations required?
For the Galapagos Islands there are no required immunizations. But if you intend to spend more time in Ecuador, especially in the jungle, a yellow fever vaccination is recommended. This vaccination must be administered at least 10 days before your arrival in Ecuador.
What is the best time of year to visit Galapagos?
The climate is pleasant all year round, there is no best or better time to fly to the Galapagos.
Weather-wise there are 2 seasons:
Cool & dry season: July – December. Temperatures between 19 and 25°C, average sea temperature 21°C. Warm & wet season: January – June. Temperatures between 22 and 27°C, average sea temperature 24°C but can dip lower. July, August and Christmas are the busiest time for tourists.

Is there an entrance fee to the Galapagos National Park?
The Galapagos National Park charges an entrance fee of US$ 100 for adults and US$ 50 for children under 12 to be paid at the airport upon arrival. Please be sure to carry the above amounts in cash. No credit cards are accepted.

Can US coins be used to pay in Ecuador?
Yes, all the coins are used to make payments in Ecuador, however Ecuadorian coins CAN NOT be used in the United States, if you do not want to take them, you should change them before their return.
What else to take along from home?
In general, it is advisable to wear comfortable clothing and sports shoes. As the sun is very intense, please do not forget to bring high quality sunscreen, sunglasses, cap or hat. In the highlands of the Andes, the jacket could be useful. In Galapagos, on the coast and in the Amazon rainforest area, shirts, shorts, long and light shirts are optimal to protect against mosquitoes. For Amazon Area and Galapagos we recommend robust sandals. If you would like to look at animals in the Galapagos or in the Amazon, binoculars are important. If adventure and climbing excursions are planned, you will need special equipment.
